Who is Dr. Kaufmann?

Dr. Kaufmann is a highly accomplished educator with a strong background in science and technology. He received his B.A. in Biological Science Education from the University of Delaware, his M.Ed. in Applied Education Technology from Wilmington University, and completed a Doctorate in Innovation and Organizational Leadership and Innovation at Wilmington University in 2016.

Dr. Kaufmann has been teaching Biology at Concord High School since 1999 and also serves as an adjunct professor at Wilmington University. He is known for his engaging teaching methods that incorporate interactive technology and computer-based learning management systems. This has allowed his students to master content at their own pace while receiving individualized instruction. He has also developed a full set of recorded classroom lectures, making classroom content accessible to students 24 hours a day.

One of the most exciting activities of the school year is Dr. Kaufmann's Biology Stations, where students experience a survey of biodiversity by moving through a series of laboratory stations. Each of the 65 stations is an investigation of one representative organism, and students can choose stations according to their interests. This flexible approach to learning has been highly successful in engaging students and allowing them to learn at their own pace.

Dr. Kaufmann's innovative approach to teaching has been recognized on both the state and national level. He received a $10,000 grant from Verizon in recognition of his dedication to science education and technology integration early in his career. In 2014, the Patti Mishaw foundation awarded him $5,000 for the purchase of research-grade microscopes for his Biology students. In 2011, he was awarded the Presidential Award of Excellence in Math and Science Teaching in recognition of his unique style of instruction.
